Massively multiplayer online role-playing games are gaining in popularity as more people embrace the camaraderie. Mythic Entertainment recently announced a free upgrade to their MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot. The free downloadable expansion for all current subscribers, called New Frontiers, reinvents the game’s Realm versus Realm (RvR) combat system and Mythic’s unique take on player versus player (PvP) play.

New Frontiers makes heroic battles accessible to subscribers of all levels and abilities, deepens the tactical options and strategies of battle, diversifies warfare styles and establishes a new and expanded rewards system. Trials of Atlantis, the last expansion released by Mythic, brought a plethora of new features and quests for more advanced players, along with a look into the history of Mythic’s Camelot.

We spoke with Matt Firor, the Executive Producer for Mythic Entertainment, about the expansion and how MOGs (massively online games) manage to attract so many people. Matt began with a description of their flagship title, Dark Age of Camelot.
